Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, David Marais is a teacher, musician, and songwriter in the Denver, Colorado area. He began learning to play the guitar at the age of 16, being inspired by the late, great guitarist and singer Josh Sithole. In 1990, during his first year at the University of Cape Town, Mr. Marais began playing guitar and singing live in pubs in Stellenbosch and Cape Town.

In 1990, during his first year at the University of Cape Town, Mr. Marais began playing guitar and singing live in pubs in Stellenbosch and Cape Town.Mr. Marais currently teaches English and Social Studies to middle schoolers at the Stanley British Primary School during the day, and performs his music in the evenings and on weekends.
The Airturn arrived today and is working just beautifully in MSword format, (on my macbook pro laptop), and scrolls through my lyrics/music almost intuitively! You have truly changed the way I'll be able to play live, (acoustic guitar and singing), as I'll no longer need to lug my monstrously large music 3-ring binders around, (nor will I need to be clumsily thumbing through pages when folks ask for requests!). Thank you, thank you, thank you. Your attention to customer service was brilliant too - I will definitely be spreading the word to fellow musicians.
